Nano Nagle Place

6 minute walk

Nano Nagle Place is a great place to start your discovery of Cork City and the beautiful printed materials that come with your ticket help you to discover both our 3.4 acre site and the city of Cork.

The heritage experience engagingly describes life in 18th century Cork before going on to explore the story of how Nano Nagle worked tirelessly to help and educate the poor and disadvantaged of the city. The visitor can then interactively discover how the order she founded, the Presentation Sisters, has travelled across the globe to continue her work.

For younger visitors there are lots of reading nooks and fun screens to interact with.

The site houses a complex of beautiful 18th-century buildings including the convent that Nano built for the Ursuline Order in 1771. Access to this building is via guided tours at 11.00 and 15.00. Objects owned and used by Nano, now lovingly conserved, are housed here. In the building, too, is ‘Miss Nagle’s Parlour’, a carefully conserved 18th-century room where Nano spent time with the Ursuline sisters and their boarding students.  Afternoon tours are almost always carried out by a Presentation sister, some of whom entered the convent here, as well as living and working on site.
